Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
Israeli occupation forces demolished Wednesday a house under construction in the town of Silwan, occupied Jerusalem.
Jerusalemite sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces stormed the Shiyah area, close to the apartheid wall that separates the towns of Al-Eizariya and Silwan, and besieged a house under construction and demolished it claiming that it was not licensed.
The sources pointed out that the house belongs to the Al-Zaghal family, and its area is estimated at 90 square meters, unroofed.
Silwan residents denounced the escalation of house demolitions by the Israeli occupation authorities and forcing the people to self-demolish them under false claims, calling on the world to work to stop the occupation decisions aimed at displacing them and demolishing their homes.
Six neighborhoods in Silwan are at risk of completely demolishing their homes under the pretext of building without a permit or evacuating them and expelling their residents for the benefit of settlement associations.
Over the past years, Israeli occupation municipality teams have delivered 6,817 judicial and administrative demolition orders to homes in the town’s neighborhoods, in addition to “evacuation” orders for 53 residential buildings in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood for the benefit of settlers.
It is noteworthy that the lands of Silwan town amount to 5640 dunums, and it includes 12 neighborhoods in which about 58,500 Jerusalemites live. There are 78 outposts in which 2,800 settlers live.
