DaysofPal- The Israeli Occupation forces (IOF) this morning ordered thousands of residents in large parts of Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, particularly the northeastern and parts of the northwestern areas, to leave their homes immediately, in what human rights organizations have described as a serious escalation of the ongoing Israeli policy of forced displacement since the start of the genocide.
The orders came after Israeli quadcopter drones dropped leaflets demanding immediate evacuation, as the area was under intense aerial and artillery bombardment. Over the past three days alone, this bombardment has destroyed more than 300 homes, in addition to demolishing around 350 others, triggering a mass exodus under extremely harsh humanitarian conditions.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, 54 Palestinians were killed in separate Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the war began to around 61,776 people. In the same period, 16 new deaths due to hunger were recorded, raising the famine-related death toll to about 240 people, including 107 children, as a result of the tightened siege and restrictions on humanitarian aid.
These developments fall within a broader Israeli plan to reshape Gaza’s demographic geography, with Israeli forces enforcing buffer zones and clearing entire neighborhoods, actions that have prompted accusations from rights groups and international organizations that the Israeli measures amount to war crimes and systematic ethnic cleansing.
Zeitoun is one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in Gaza, and its sudden evacuation is worsening the humanitarian crisis amid severe shortages of water, electricity, food, and medical care, alongside the lack of safe shelter for thousands of newly displaced people.
