Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli Jewish settlement organisation Ateerat Cohanim seized on Monday two Palestinian houses in Jerusalem’s Old City.

The two Palestinian houses were exactly located in the area of Batn Al-Hawa in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Wadi Hilweh Information Centre said that a large number of Israeli forces, including Special Forces, police, dogs and employees from Ateerat Cohanim raided the neighbourhood of Batn Al-Hawa supported by a helicopter.

They surrounded two houses owned by Abu-Nab family and carried out an evacuation order in favour of the settlement organisation, which claimed ownership.

Zuheir Rajabi, head of Batn Al-Hawa committee, told the information centre that the Israeli forces raided the houses of Abdullah abu-Nab and his brother Sabri and forcefully evacuated the residents.

Rajabi said that they used pepper gas to push the old man Abdullah abu-Nab, and arrested him. Then, they removed the furniture and seized the houses. They prevented anybody from leaving his house or walking in the neighbourhood.

Rajabi also said that the settlement organisation claimed the ownership of the houses before 1948, when they used to be a Jewish synagogue.

Abu-Nab’s houses are part of Ateerat Cohanim’s judaisation plan, which includes seizing 5,200 square meters from the lands of the Middle Neighbourhood –Batn Al-Hawa– under the pretext of ownership by Yemen Jews since 1881.

They divided the area into six sections numbered 73, 75, 88, 95, 96 and 97. The settlement organisation claim that the Israeli Supreme Court acknowledged Yemeni settlers’ ownership of the land of Batn Al-Hawa.

According to the information centre, the land is Palestinian and it includes between 30-35 residential buildings, where more than 80 Palestinian families, consist of nearly 300 individuals, live.

Residents of this area, the information centre said, have original and genuine ownership documents dating back to the Othman time; decades before the Israeli occupation.
