DaysofPal- Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan stated that the fundamental problem with Trump’s envoy, Nikolay Mladenov, is that he “expresses the Israeli position, rather than the position of mediation,” emphasizing that his performance in the negotiations file does not meet basic Palestinian demands.
In press statements, Hamdan explained that Hamas’s disagreement with Mladenov centers on three main issues. The first, he said, is the absence of any commitment to Palestinian demands, including the implementation of the first phase of the agreement.
He added that the second issue is the refusal to respond to the movement’s demands for compelling the Israeli occupation to fulfill its obligations and to provide genuine guarantees ensuring that these commitments are carried out.
According to Hamdan, the third issue concerns limiting the negotiations solely to the question of disarming the resistance. He stressed that this approach is unacceptable and contradicts the understandings and consensus reached among Palestinian factions.
In a related context, Hamdan emphasized that Israel would not succeed in separating the various fronts of the resistance, affirming that there is coordination among resistance forces to thwart such efforts.
He also said that attempts by Israel and its allies to isolate the Palestinians from their Arab and Islamic surroundings have failed, arguing that the sphere of resistance continues to expand. Hamdan praised the support provided by resistance fronts to the Palestinian cause.
A major concern in the recent talks in Cairo, according to Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem, was expediting the National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip’s entry and operation.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Qassem said Hamas had renewed its full readiness to hand over all governance-related files in the Gaza Strip to the National Committee, including the security file, and to use all available capabilities to ensure the committee’s mission succeeds.
