DaysofPal- A joint statement issued by the United States and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries has reaffirmed support for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and rejected any forced displacement of its population or Israeli plans in this regard.
The statement emphasized that Gaza residents must not be forcibly expelled from their land, adding that anyone who chooses to leave should retain the right to return.
On regional matters, the statement underscored commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
It welcomed ongoing U.S.-mediated negotiations between the Israeli occupation and Lebanon, stressing the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts independently from other regional conflicts.
Commenting on the statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem described the Gulf and U.S. position rejecting forced displacement as a “positive step” in confronting the Israeli plans by Israeli far-right forces to expel Gaza’s population.
However, Qassem stressed that such positions must be backed by concrete actions.
He called for increased pressure to halt ongoing Israeli crimes against civilians in Gaza, lift the Israeli blockade, allow unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, and enable local committees to begin efforts aimed at restoring basic living conditions.
He added that these measures are essential to strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian population and preventing any attempts at forced displacement.
The developments come amid ongoing international attention to the humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza, with reconstruction and long-term governance remaining key challenges.
