Palestine Could End in 8 Days

'Palestine Could End in 8 Days' is a petition that has recently been launched on Avaaz. It warns of Israel’s plan to illegally expand its sovereignty over 30% of Palestinian territory, including Palestine's future capital, East Jerusalem. We have just five days left before the Israeli government begins its de jour annexation. We need to act fast to prevent this daylight theft of land it does not own, nor can it have.

Thousands of people worldwide have joined this petition; every minute, every second, more names are being added. To date, over 1.3 million have already signed. The next goal is to grow the signatories to 1.5 million and beyond, and for this, we need your help.

The petition calls on the European Union and other countries to take action against Israel’s illegal annexation, stressing the point that only European and hardline international pressure can halt this grave violation of international law.

“Virtually everyone opposes [Israel's annexation] but the question is whether anyone will do anything about it," says Avaas. "Europe and others have the power to make Israel think twice, but they need to hear a massive demand for action from citizens first. Let's give it to them!"

Avaaz is a US-based nonprofit organisation launched in January 2007 that promotes global activism on issues such as climate change, human rights, animal rights, corruption, poverty and conflict. The UK newspaper The Guardian considers it 'the globe's largest and most powerful online activist network'.
