Abu Daqqa family home in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, lay in ruins after it was targeted by Israeli missiles late on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
The relentless Israeli airstrikes have resulted in a devastating loss of life, including innocent women, children, and infants.
Eyewitness Account
An eyewitness, who stood over the rubble, recounted the terrifying moment when the tragedy struck. “At approximately 10:30 pm, Israeli warplanes dropped several missiles in the neighborhood where border families gathered to find safety,” he said.
He and his neighbors rushed to rescue the trapped families, but they managed to pull out only a few family members. The rest of the victims remained trapped under the rubble until Sunday afternoon when emergency crews could finally reach them.
Palestinian journalist Muthana Al-Najjar was on the ground to report the grim aftermath of the attack, which claimed the lives of at least 16 Palestinians.
Journalist Muthana reported that Among the victims were Hussein Abu Daqqa, his mother, his wife, and their young children, all of whom were tragically pulled lifeless from beneath the rubble.
Tala, Hussein’s little girl, was the only survivor.
A Deeper Suffering
The Abu Daqqa family’s suffering runs deeper, as they are the family of Yasser Abu Daqqa, a Palestinian prisoner languishing in Israeli jails.
“Yasser Abu Daqqa will never be able to reunite with his family, as they fell victim to the Israeli bombardment, leaving the entire community in mourning.
Journalist Muthana Al-Najjar, his voice heavy with grief, shared, “Prisoner Yasser Abu Daqqa, held in Israeli prisons, will never see his family as they were massacred by Israeli missiles. His mother, brothers, nephews, and nieces fell victim to Israeli bombardment.”
Earlier on Saturday, Palestinian resistance factions launched projectiles at Israeli settlements and executed daring raids on multiple Israeli settlements. These retaliatory actions resulted in the capture of an unknown number of Israeli settlers and soldiers.
The Palestinian resistance movements have cited ongoing Israeli aggression, particularly highlighting provocations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the plight of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention, as the driving force behind their actions.
They have consistently warned against Israeli violations and expressed profound concerns over Israel’s disregard for these warnings, leading to the continued suffering of the Palestinian people.
As the situation escalates, Palestinian medical sources have reported a rising casualty count. The death toll now stands at a heartbreaking 313 individuals, including journalists, medical personnel, and 20 innocent children.
