The Palestinian people continue to stand up against the Zionist conspiracies in Palestine. Whenever the Israeli occupation pursues a policy of hybridization, killing the morale and fighting the spirit of the Palestinian people, it is met with unexpected results, contradicting its expectations. This equation applied to the Jerusalem Intifada, which began on October 1, 2015, following deep-seated policies of the occupation in Jerusalem and its regional and international extensions.

They attempted to erase the Palestinian people’s consciousness in the West Bank and the occupied Palestinian territories since 1948, thinking they had succeeded. However, the Palestinian people, especially in the West Bank, ignited a renewed struggle and engraved it in history, memory, and consciousness, all in the name of Jerusalem.

This uprising came at the right time, nullifying all attempts to make future generations forget Jerusalem. It sent a message, as Palestinians have always done, to the world and the occupation that Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities are motives for resistance. They have never faded from the thoughts and behaviors of generations. As the capital of the state of Palestine, it will remain a fiery lightning bolt for aggressors.

In the Jerusalem Intifada, various segments of the population – young and old, men and women – individually and independently confronted the occupation heroically. At a time when the Israeli leaders had high hopes for success to eliminate Palestinian resistance, Palestinians used whatever tools they had at disposal, such as sharp objects, cars, Molotov cocktails, old bullets, and simple firearms. They disrupted the Zionist scene, baffled security theories, and military arsenals, and achieved the desired message.

During the Jerusalem Intifada, the historic occupied Palestinian land of 1948 witnessed a surge in defense of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa. Palestinians took to the streets, exposing themselves to Zionist bullets, sending a message to the occupation that we are an important and essential part of the Palestinian Arab Muslim and Christian components.

The occupation’s policies have not succeeded with us over the past decades. Like other stages of struggle and resilience, the torch was passed from its predecessors to the Return Marches station, the Siege Breaking in Gaza, and the ongoing uprising of the rebellious youth in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The spirit of the Jerusalem Intifada will continue to flow in the hearts of the rebellious youth in all of Palestine and beyond, defending Jerusalem, the Qibla of the free, and the inspiration of the revolutionaries.
