The leader of the Hamas movement and the candidate of the “Al Quds is our Destiny” list, Sheikh Jamal al-Tawil, confirmed that Hamas determines to hold the elections in Jerusalem.

Al-Tawil called, during press statements, of all electoral lists to hold their meetings in the city of Jerusalem.

He said that holding elections in Jerusalem is a right that must be exercised, and the threat of the Israeli occupation must be faced by the 36 electoral lists holding their meetings in Jerusalem and calling ambassadors and consuls of states, and placing the elections on their responsibilities, to put pressure on their governments and besiege the arbitrary occupation measures to prevent our people from practicing their rights.

He explained that the Palestinian people and its factions are required to propose means to establish this right, such as if voting takes place in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, or in embassies and consulates of countries friendly to our people, and these are matters that can be agreed upon.

He added that this is a right for us and it cannot be undone in the face of the Israeli occupation measures.

Al-Tawil emphasized that the international, regional, and Arab movement of Hamas and with the factions continues, and said that we asked these countries to exert the required pressure through the Security Council and international and human rights institutions, in order for the people of Jerusalem to exercise their right to elections.
