Senior Hamas official in the occupied West Bank, Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara, 63, died Friday July 26th, 2024 in Israeli custody after being transferred to Ramon prison, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees Affairs.
The Palestinian governmental body said that before his latest arrest on October 30, Abu Ara was suffering from “serious health problems and needed intensive medical follow-up.”
It added thay from the moment of his arrest, Sheikh Abu Ara, like all prisoners, has faced unprecedented crimes… since the beginning of the war of extermination.
Abu Ara, who had been imprisoned several times since 1990, was subjected to medical negligence and sever torture, the commission said, adding that around 5,000 Palestinians have been detained by Israel since the war began, without any information provided about them.
The death of Abu Ara raises the number of Palestinian prisoners who have died in Israeli custody to more than 55 since the October 7.
According to local health sources, the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 39,000 people, with around 90,400 wounded.
he Ministry of Prisoners condemned hod death and deemed it an assassination by the Israeli occupation of the prisoner leader Mustafa Abu Arreh inside the prisons, joining more than 55 martyred prisoners killed by the occupation inside the prisons since the start of the genocide war on Gaza.
