Israeli settlers burn electrical panel of main water reservoir, south of Nablus

A group of settlers Sunday evening stormed the town of Asir al-Qibliya, south of Nablus, and burned an electrical panel that supplies the town's main water tank.

The official in charge of the settlement file in the northern-occupied West Bank, Ghassan Douglas, stated that a group of settlers, for the second time within two months, burned the electricity panel and smashed the main door of the water tank feeding into the town of Asira al-Qibliya.

Douglas pointed out that on 1-3 this year, settlers infiltrated from the settlement of "Yitzhar" to the outskirts of the town of Asira al-Qibli, smashing the contents of the electronic board, and removing the main door of the water tank feeding the town.

The town of Asir al-Qibliya is witnessing continuous attacks by settlers and the occupation forces, in addition to continuous attempts to confiscate the lands of the citizens in the town, as well as sweeping and building settlement roads to connect settlements blocs to each other.

Villages south of Nablus are exposed to almost daily attacks by settlers and the occupation forces that provide them with protection.

The Israeli occupation forces had previously notified the seizure of about a thousand dunums of agricultural lands from the villages of Burin, Madama, and Asirah al-Qibli, south of Nablus, with the aim of expanding "Yitzhar" settlement built on citizens' lands and constructing a security road serving settlers.

The Israeli occupation authorities have classified the settlement (Yitzhar) as a town, as part of a plan to annex dispossess settlements and large areas of West Bank land to the entity.

This step aims to change the classification of lands from agricultural to residential, in the interest of the settlement’s structural expansion, which threatens to seize more land and tighten the noose on the people in the southern countryside of Nablus.
