DaysofPal – Palestinian resistance factions on Wednesday marked 1,000 days since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, calling for intensified resistance and greater Palestinian national unity.
The factions said in a joint statement that the Gaza Strip is living a continuing war, which has brought about widespread destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis throughout the strip.
The statement noted that Israel had relied extensively on military force throughout the war but argued that it had failed to accomplish its declared objectives. According to the factions, these included attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and impose new realities on the ground.
The factions also said the confrontation with Israel has continued since 1948, maintaining that the current military operations were a response to Israeli policies in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and Jerusalem, including settlement expansion and the blockade.
Reaffirming the Palestinian people’s right to resist, the factions called for an escalation of confrontation in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, saying such action is necessary to counter Israeli annexation plans and settlement expansion.
The statement rejected any form of external guardianship over the Gaza Strip, stressing that the administration of the territory is an internal Palestinian matter.
The factions called for the urgent formation of a technocratic committee to manage Gaza’s affairs, alongside the launch of a comprehensive national dialogue aimed at unifying Palestinian ranks and rebuilding national institutions.
They also urged Arab and Islamic countries to adopt a stronger position to help end the war, mobilize both official and popular support for the Palestinian cause, and reject all forms of normalization with Israel.
Concluding the statement, the factions paid tribute to the “martyrs of the Palestinian people” in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, saying their sacrifices would remain “a source of inspiration for future generations.”
