Days of Palestine -

Days of Palestine – Amman

Today, Wednesday, Jordan condemned the continued violations of the Israeli occupation of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the latest of which was sabotaging the locks of "Bab Al-Silsila" (one of the doors of Al-Aqsa), cutting off its external speaker wires from the western side, and exposure to employees of the Jerusalem Endowments Administration and the affairs of the Jordanian Al-Aqsa Mosque.

"The actions of the Israeli police are unacceptable, condemned and reprehensible, and represent a provocation to the feelings of Muslims and a violation of the sanctity of the mosque and of the legal and historical status quo," said the spokesman for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Dhaifallah Al-Fayez.

He stressed that the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a pure place of worship for Muslims whose affairs are exclusively supervised by the administration of the Jerusalem Endowments and the Jordanian Al-Aqsa Mosque affairs in accordance with international law and the existing legal and historical situation.

Al-Fayez called on the Israeli authorities to abide by their obligations as the occupying power in occupied East Jerusalem in accordance with international law and to desist from these actions and provocations.

He also called on it to "respect the sanctity of the mosque, the status quo, and the authority of the administration of the Jerusalem Endowments and the affairs of the Blessed Jordanian Mosque."

On Tuesday evening, the Israeli police destroyed the locks of the "door of the chain" and the door leading to the roof of the Islamic Museum and cut the external speaker wires of the Haram al-Sharif.

The police also attacked the employees of the Jerusalem Endowments Administration and the affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and also prevented the distribution of breakfast meals to those fasting near the "Gate of Lion" and seized them.

It is noteworthy that the Jerusalem Endowments Department of the Ministry of Endowments, Holy Places and Islamic Affairs in Jordan is the official supervisor of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the endowments of Jerusalem, according to international law, which Jordan is the last local authority overseeing these sanctities before its occupation by "Israel".
