Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli occupation forces, uprooted dozens of Palestinian olive trees in the Palestinian-owned lands in Al-Khadr town, south of occupied Bethlehem on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Palestinian activist Ahmed Salah reported that Israeli settlers uprooted 25 Palestinian olive trees owned by the Palestinian farmer Imad Salah in Al-Khadr town and stole them.
Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli occupation forces, escalated their attacks against Palestinian lands and properties in the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestinian figures, Israeli occupation forces and settlers uprooted, burnt, and destroyed about 18,900 Palestinian trees in 2022, mostly olive trees.
Earlier on Friday, settlers established a new settlement outpost on the Palestinian-owned lands in occupied Bethlehem, which triggered the Palestinians’ anger.
The Palestinian ministry of foreign affairs and the Islamic movement Hamas denounced the settlers’ establishment of a new settlement outpost in Nablus.
Furthermore, Israeli settlers obstruct the Palestinian farmers’ access to their lands, uprooting their trees and stealing their crops.
About 600,000 Israeli settlers live in over 230 illegal settlements built since 1967 in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. Israeli occupation officially took over the Palestinian lands in the West Bank and Jerusalem in 1967.
Earlier in 2023, The European Union reiterated its strong opposition to the Israeli settlement policy and the illegal measures against Palestinians in this context.
