Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Sunday July 21st that Israel must be “punished for its crimes severe enough to deter anyone from considering “such cruelty again.”
He added that Israel must face the consequences of its atrocities in Gaza, ensuring that the punishment serves as a stark deterrent against anyone considering such cruelty again.”
Erdogan made his remarks while on the plane returning from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Erdogan commented and applauded the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which affirmed Palestinians’ right to self-determination and ruled that Israeli settlements in occupied territories must be evacuated.
“I hope this decision and previous ones not implemented by Israel will bring an awakening in the international community,” he concluded.
