Israeli Forces Detain 3 Workers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, Threaten to Kidnap More

Israeli occupation forces detained Tuesday, July 4, 2023, three Palestinian employees of the Islamic Endowments Department in Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

A worker at Al-Aqsa Mosque reported that the Israeli troops detained Al-Aqsa guards Arafat Najeeb and Muhammad Al-Salhi, and an employee of the Reconstruction Committee, Hussam Sidr while performing their work.

The Israeli occupation continues to target Al-Aqsa mosque employees and guards through arrest, prosecution, and deportation from the mosque to allow extremist settlers to storm the mosque without any restrictions.

The occupation police prevented the employees of the Al-Aqsa Reconstruction Committee from working in all its departments inside the mosque and threatened its director to detain employees who initiate the restoration inside it.

Semi-daily, Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa and provocatively perform Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, aiming to impose a temporal and spatial division in the holy site, which the Muslim Palestinians reject and decry.

Earlier in June, media sources revealed a new Israeli proposed plan aiming at dividing Al-Aqsa Mosque between Jews and Muslims.

In June 2023, around 4000 Israeli settlers stormed the mosque and performed Talmudic provocative rituals in its squares, according to Palestinian figures.
