Israeli far-right wing member of Knesset Amit Halevi proposed a new plan to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque between Muslims and Jews.
Within the plan, the southern part of Al-Aqsa Mosque will be allocated for Muslims while Jews will receive the central and northern areas, including the Dome of the Rock.
Media sources revealed that Halevi called for removing the Kingdom of Jordan’s authority over Al-Aqsa Mosque despite long years of the Jordanian government’s custodianship of the Mosque.
In addition, Halevi suggested changing the procedures for Jews’ access to Al-Aqsa, demanding that Jews will be allowed to enter the Mosque via its other gates.
Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, the incumbent Grand Mufti of al-Quds, said that such Israeli plots will ignite a major conflict that will potentially affect the entire world.
In a press statement, he also pointed out that the occupation has a long history of desperate attempts to fabricate historical facts, which have dramatically intensified recently.
“The history of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque is known to all, and international bodies confirm that the site belongs to Muslims and reject the regime’s evil schemes to divide time and space in the holy compound,” he stressed.
Sheikh Hussein called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, intervene immediately to rein in Israeli authorities, and prevent them from implementing their plots against the Holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
