Israeli forces carried out a series of pre-dawn raids across the occupied West Bank on Thursday, arresting at least 41 Palestinians, including four women and a deputy mayor.
The largest wave of arrests took place in Nablus in the northern West Bank, where 17 people were detained. Nine of them were arrested during a raid on the village of Tal, southwest of the city. Three others were taken into custody after Israeli forces stormed homes in the town of Beita, south of Nablus.
Meanwhile, additional arrests were reported in the Old Askar refugee camp and the Al-Masaken neighborhood east of Nablus, where several homes were searched. Israeli forces also detained Bara Jarar’ah, deputy mayor of Asira al-Shamaliya, during a raid on his home in the village north of the city.
In nearby Kafr Qalil, south of Nablus, troops surrounded and searched a home before arresting one resident.
The arrest campaign extended beyond Nablus. In Al-Khalil, Israeli forces detained a female student from the Sharia College during a raid on al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of the city. Another young man was arrested in the Umm al-Satar area of Yatta.
Further north, in Tulkarem, one man was detained after soldiers raided his home in the city. Israeli forces also arrested four young men during a raid on al-Far’a refugee camp south of Tubas. In the town of Tammun, also south of Tubas, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were taken into custody.
In Jericho, one man was arrested after his home was searched in the Ktif al-Wad neighborhood. Raids were also reported in the Ein al-Sultan and Aqbat Jabr refugee camps in the city.
Additionally, Israeli forces detained 10 young men during home raids in the town of Jiyus, north of Qalqilya. In Deir Ghassaneh, northwest of Ramallah, a woman was arrested from her home.
In Tulkarem, a young woman was detained after soldiers searched her family’s home. She is the wife of a Palestinian who had been released from Israeli prison only days earlier after more than two years in detention. Israeli forces also re-arrested a recently released detainee from the Shuweika suburb of Tulkarem. He had been displaced from the Tulkarem refugee camp.
Israeli forces conduct near-daily raids across cities, towns, and refugee camps in the West Bank. The operations frequently involve home searches and arrests, contributing to ongoing tensions throughout the occupied territory.
