Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Auja Spring, north of Jericho with tight protection from the Israeli occupation forces which prevented Palestinian citizens’ vehicles from reaching the area, Thursday, 22 December.
Hundreds of colonial settlers stormed the Auja spring under the pretext of celebrating the so-called Hebrew holiday of Hanukkah and wandered along the length of the spring, reported Ayman Gharib, an activist in the Popular Resistance Committees.
“Israeli occupation forces confiscated my vehicle and identity card and prevented me along with dozens of Palestinian citizens from being in the place to secure the entry and exit of Israeli settler vehicles to the spring,” said Ayman.
It is noteworthy that during the past few days Israeli settlers hung banners at the entrance to the Auja Spring calling to seize it amid intensified calls on social media to take over the place.
Between 600,000 and 750,000 Israelis occupy over 250 illegal settlements that have been built across the West Bank since the 1967 occupation.
The UN Security Council has in several resolutions condemned the Israeli regime’s settlement projects in the occupied Palestinian lands.
