It is no surprise that such an extremist government’s main goal is to persecute Palestinian rights in the occupied West Bank, the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and even for the Palestinians in the 48-occupied territories.
An extremely dangerous situation Palestinians face with regard to their existence and very fundamental human rights is made worse by Netanyahu’s legal crisis and the most extreme and racist government in Israeli history.
After passing the most detrimental amendment to the judiciary’s competence, Netanyahu and his coalition government promised to move on with the most detrimental amendment to the judiciary’s independence, assuming control of the Judicial Selection Committee.
In the Israeli Knesset, the government would win a majority of six of the nine committee members for itself. This will give the government unrestricted appointment authority over judges of the Supreme Court as well.
The Palestinians, already marginalized, will face harsh laws and actions as Israel’s leadership tries to create a limited and ineffective court through its president and legislature.
They must abolish an independent court before proceeding since the intention to damage Palestinians is so serious. Netanyahu, Smotrich, and Ben Gvir of Israel will rest only after that.
Expanding Illegal Settlements in West Bank
The colonial Israeli illegal annexation settlements in the occupied West Bank are on the top agenda of the Netanyahu program, as the Israeli Supreme Court dismissed many of the Palestinian rights.
This would play a significant role in altering the demographic composition and forcibly displacing as many Palestinians as they could from occupied Palestine.
The Israeli authorities impose severe sanctions on Palestinian land utilization in Area C, constituting more than 60% of the West Bank’s expanse.
Up to 70% of the land in this region has been employed for the construction of unauthorized settlements, and the IMEU report indicates that 35% of East Jerusalem has been taken for similar settlements.
Israel exploits Palestinian land to extend its settlements, while severely impeding Palestinians from employing their land for residential, agricultural, or commercial functions.
The Israeli forces have established 144 settlements in the West Bank as of January 2023, with 12 of these located in East Jerusalem. In addition to these settlements, the West Bank accommodates over 100 illegal Israeli outposts.
East Jerusalem has an additional 220,000 Jewish settlers, contributing to a total of approximately 450,000 Israeli settlers residing in the West Bank, excluding East Jerusalem. Furthermore, the Golan Heights currently house around 25,000 Israeli settlers.
Denying Medical Aid to Gaza Patients
Patients in Gaza will be unable to obtain treatment because of the harsh restrictions and the disruption to patient flow across the Erez Beit Hanoun crossing.
According to the statistics, 1,828 applications for leave permits were made to the “Israeli” authorities in order to attend medical appointments on May [14] 2023; 78% of those applications were allowed, while the remaining ones were denied.
It entails the cancellation of all future appointments with “Israeli” hospitals.
There will be a variety of impacts on the reality in the Gaza Strip, particularly the economic one such as the increase in the number of families and individuals experiencing medium to severe food insecurity.
Moreover, a shortage in the commodity stock of basic and food items will result from the shortage of supplies of these commodities to international institutions, particularly UNRWA and merchants in the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Strip loses around $12 million a month as a result of the export ban by the Israeli authorities.
The net economic gain to the economy of the Gaza Strip from exporting agricultural goods was estimated to be around $56 million in 2022, according to the United Nations Coordinator for Peace’s report, which was distributed at the donors’ conference in May 2023.
Israel’s environmental apartheid has a far greater adverse effect on Gaza. The UN and the IMEU declare that the blockade has resulted in an environmental catastrophe.
Continuation of Apartheid Policies in West Bank
Israel recently passed a bill allowing communities with at least 700 families to unilaterally decide who is allowed to live within their borders.
The occupation has resulted in the confiscation of Palestinian land for the construction of Israeli settlements and related infrastructure. This has led to the displacement of Palestinian communities, loss of agricultural land, and restricted access to vital resources such as water.
Furthermore, the Israeli forces impose stringent movement restrictions on Palestinians, including the implementation of checkpoints, roadblocks, and the separation barrier.
These restrictions impact daily life, making it difficult for Palestinians to access work, education, healthcare, and family members in other areas.
The Israeli apartheid regime has never been a democratic one; Israel was built on the ruins of Palestinians in which 750, 000 Palestinians were displaced in 1948 from their hometowns at the hands of Zionist gangs.
Whether it is a far-right or a central government that takes office in Israel, the Palestinians will always be the victims in the Israeli Knesset debate in terms of the status of the court. Palestinians will always endure the harsh realities of the Israeli apartheid policies on a daily basis.
