The Anti-settlement organization watchdog Peace Now disclosed that the Israeli government allocated in 2023 substantial financial resources toward the reconstruction of illegal settlers’ outposts in the West Bank.
The Ministry of Settlements and National Mission confirmed its approval of 75 million shekels ($20.5 million) for the procurement of security infrastructure aimed at bolstering “young settlements,” a term denoting these illegal outposts.
Peace Now further detailed that these funds were utilized to acquire a variety of settlers’ security assets including vehicles, drones, surveillance cameras, generators, electric gates, fencing materials, and road construction.
The allocation sheds light on Israel’s punitive measures against recognizing Palestine by several European countries and Israel’s challenge of world’s court of justice that deemed Israel an occupying power that must cease its illegal atrocities in the West Bank.
