Israel, UAE, U.S Meet to Discuss Post-War PlansAccording to recent reports by Axios, citing Israeli officials’ statements, a trilateral meeting was convened last Thursday in Abu Dhabi among the United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates to discuss post-war plans.
The gathering, facilitated by Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed, featured key figures such as Brett McGurk, U.S. Middle East adviser, Tom Sullivan, State Department counselor, and Ron Dermer, Israel’s Minister for Strategic Affairs, alongside senior Israeli defense officials.
In an op-ed penned by Lana Nusseibeh, special envoy of ABZ, detailed proposals put forth by the Emirati, centering on the deployment of a temporary international mission aimed at addressing the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, restoring order, and establishing a robust governance framework.
The UAE has indicated its preparedness to contribute troops to this initiative, contingent upon several stipulations.
These include the condition that the international force be formally invited by the Palestinian Authority (PA), that the PA undergoes significant reforms culminating in the appointment of a new, independent prime minister, and that the Israeli government is consent to the PA’s role in Gaza, aligning with a political process anchored in a two-state solution.
