DayofPal– Israel is spending an estimated $300 million per day in its escalating war with Iran, according to an Israeli government adviser cited by The Economist.
The figure reportedly covers primarily the cost of jet fuel and munitions as Israel intensifies its military campaign.
“This government is prepared to pay whatever price for the war in Iran,” the adviser said. “Even if it means draining reserves and burying Israel in debt for generations.”
The soaring costs come on top of a war budget already stretched thin by months of war in the Gaza Strip.
Since October 2023, Israel has spent an estimated $85 billion on military operations in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria. That figure predates the latest escalation with Iran.
Economists are warning that the current pace of military spending is unsustainable. Despite this, Israeli leadership appears undeterred by the long-term economic risks.
At the same time, the United States continues to provide substantial financial and military support to Israel.
In addition to the annual $3.8 billion in military aid, both the Biden and Trump administrations have approved billions in emergency assistance since the war in Gaza began.
U.S. military cargo planes and warships have also delivered ammunition, fuel, and missile defense systems to Israeli forces.
The growing U.S. role in supporting Israel’s war effort is drawing criticism in Washington, where some lawmakers question how long America can continue to bankroll the widening war.
But President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his strong support for Israel, particularly in its confrontation with Iran.
“America stands fully behind Israel,” Trump has repeatedly said.
