Days of Palestine – Jerusalem

The prisoner Anhar al-Deek from Ramallah, nine months pregnant, sent a painful message from inside the Israeli Damon prison.

In a letter published by her family, the prisoner Anhar Al-Deek expressed her pain and fear of giving birth inside the Israeli occupation prison.

She wrote in her letter: “I crazily miss my daughter Julia, my heart made me cry for her, and I hug her and hold her to my heart. My heart’s pain cannot be in lines.”

Al Deek is going to give birth very soon, and she will have a cesarean delivery.

She said, “What should I do if I give birth far from you while I handcuffed, and you know what a cesarean delivery is?”

Al Deek added: “Oh, Lord, I yearn for your mercy. I am exhausted, and I had severe pains in the pelvis and severe pain in my legs due to sleeping on the prison beds. I do not know how I want to sleep on it after my delivery operation.”

She asked in pain: “How do I want to take my first steps after the operation, and how the warden holds my hands in disgust.”

According to the captive Al-Deek: “Israeli prisons administration still want to put me in isolation, my son and me.”

She added: “I do not know how I will be able to turn my mind on him and protect him from their frightening voices; when his mother was not strong, she will weaken in front of what they did in her and the rest of the captives.”

The captive Al-Deek concluded her message: “They demanded that every free and honorable to move, even with a word to help her be released before pregnancy.

Last March, the Israeli occupation arrested the captive Al-Deek, who was beginning her pregnancy. About 40 Palestinian women live in the occupation prisons in challenging and harsh conditions.

Since their arrest by the Israeli occupation forces, Palestinian female prisoners are subjected to beatings, humiliation, insults, and cursing.

The Palestinian female prisoners in the “Damon” prison suffer from harsh and brutal conditions; Where the prison lacks the minimum necessities of human life.

Qadri Abu Bakr, the head of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)’s committee for prisoners’ affairs, called for international intervention to end the “inhumane” detention of the pregnant Palestinian woman.

There are around 4,850 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including 41 women, 225 children and 540 administrative detainees, according to institutions concerned with prisoners’ affairs.
