DayofPal —Two Palestinians were killed and several others wounded on Wednesday evening after an Israeli airstrike hit a residential home in the Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
Witnesses and medics said that the strike targeted a house belonging to the Alwan family on Yaffa Street. The wounded were transferred to nearby medical facilities, where some were reported to be in serious condition.
The Israeli army claimed the attack was a response to what it described as a violation of the ceasefire agreement in northern Gaza.
In a statement, the army alleged that resistants fired toward areas where Israeli forces are positioned, calling the incident a “serious breach” of the truce.
It further claimed that the strike targeted a Hamas figure allegedly involved in planning attacks against Israeli forces.
Palestinian sources strongly rejected the Israeli narrative, saying the bombardment struck a civilian home and deemed it part of ongoing violations of the ceasefire.
The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on October 10, has been repeatedly breached, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
Since it came into effect, at least 424 Palestinians have been killed and 1,199 injured in Israeli attacks across the Strip.
Israel’s war on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, and continued for two years, killed more than 71,000 people and wounded over 171,000 others, while causing widespread destruction to civilian infrastructure.
The United Nations has estimated reconstruction costs at approximately $70 billion, with nearly 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure damaged or destroyed.
