Hundreds of Israeli writers and intellectuals called on Britain and Germany to cancel Netanyahu’s upcoming visit, on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Netanyahu’s critics urged to cancel his visits over the changes in the Israel’s judicial system which ‘put the country on a destructive course.
In a letter, more than 100 Israeli writers addressed the German and British ambassadors to Israel, saying that Netanyahu is trying to turn the country into a “theocratic dictatorship.”
In the face of Mr. Netanyahu’s dangerous and destructive leadership…,we are asking that Germany and Great Britain swiftly announce to the defendant Netanyahu that his planned state visits to your countries are canceled,” the letter read.
Since the start of 2023, tens of thousands of Israeli settlers have been protesting against Netanyahu’s goverment and the new changes in the judicial system.
Last Thursday, thousands of Israeli protesters took part in mass protests in Ben Gurion Airport to prevent Netanyahu’s trip to Rome, blocking the main entrances.
