DaysofPal- The dreams and wishes of children in Gaza can be summed up as a desire for the “Israeli” war on the Gaza Strip to end, allowing them to return to their homes, neighborhoods, school desks, and normal life.
The suffering and despair caused by the ongoing Israeli genocide for more than a year against the children of the Strip has left them with only one dream: an end to the Gaza genocide.
The Palestinian child Marwa Tafesh, 11, has been displaced in a state-run school in Gaza City since last May, after the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) invaded the Zeitoun neighborhood, forcing her and her family to evacuate to safer areas.
Marwa said, “I wish the war would stop so we could return to our house if it is still standing. If it isn’t, we would bring a tent and stay in it until we can rebuild,” stressing that there is no other place they could turn to, especially since her family rejects the idea of displacement, even to the south.
Moreover, the Palestinian child Hazem Irhim, 12 years old, wished for the war to end so he could return to his normal life, many details of which he still remembers, particularly his room, his school books, and the certificates of appreciation he received each year when he passed in school.
Hazem explained that he dreams of going back to school as a student, rather than as a displaced person, as is currently the case, and to complete his education so he can graduate from university as a doctor.
As for Razan Al-Za’about, who is 10 years old, she prays to God every day for the war on Gaza to stop and for her to find peace from the sounds of shells and missiles that frighten her and her younger sisters.
She hopes to return to her home, where the warmth has been lost since the first day she was forced to leave.
Razan wishes that the prices of goods and commodities, especially “necessities,” would be reduced and that the markets would be filled with chocolate, chips, and instant noodles as they were before the war.
Furthermore, the Palestinian child Abdullah Al-Hajin, 10 years old, dreams that after the war in the Gaza Strip ends, he will be able to eat a whole shawarma plate by himself, especially since the IOF prevents basic food supplies from entering the northern Gaza Strip.
Abdullah noted that he is the top student in his class every year, and he has certificates of appreciation to prove it, but they were lost along with his house, which IOF destroyed at the beginning of the war in the Al-Tawam area of the northern Gaza Strip.
Lana Al-Khawli, 7 years old, lost her house after IOF invaded their residential area south of Gaza City in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood.
She expressed her hope that the war would end and that they would receive a tent to set up over their destroyed house until it is rebuilt.
Lana wished to obtain many necessities that she has been deprived of since the beginning of the war, especially chocolate, and hoped that its price would become more suitable for her financial situation so that she could buy it.
As for Abdul Rahman Abu Sultan, 11 years old, from Jabalia, he dreams of the war ending, returning to school, achieving his dream of graduating from university, and becoming an Arabic language teacher when he grows up.
He plans to set up a tent and stay in it, refusing to leave the area where he lives in Jabalia.
Children are regarded as the most affected group in the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which has lasted for over 14 months.
According to United Nations statistics, Israeli occupation forces have killed more than 15,000 children and injured over 30,000 others.
Furthermore, the conflict has deprived more than a quarter of a million children of their education, and nearly all children in Gaza suffer from psychological trauma and fear due to the war’s events.
