DaysofPal— Palestinian health officials in Gaza reported a sharp rise in casualties in recent months, warning that Israeli attacks have intensified and eradicated entire families in Gaza despite ongoing discussions of a ceasefire.
Zaher al-Wahidi, head of the Information Department at Gaza’s Ministry of Health, said on Wednesday that Israeli military attacks have escalated notably during June and July.
“The average daily death toll has increased compared to previous periods,” al-Wahidi said, noting that July has seen a particularly significant surge in killings and targeting incidents.
According to ministry data, 134 Palestinians were killed in June, up from 110 in May 2026, reflecting a continuing upward trend in casualties.
Al-Wahidi added that indicators monitored by the ministry suggest the ceasefire remains fragile, with no substantial halt to bombardment or targeting operations.
Fatalities have continued on a near-daily basis, with the average number of deaths not dropping below five per day since October 2025 and rising further over the past three months.
Officials also highlighted an increasing number of incidents in which entire families have been killed.
Al-Wahidi said recent data show a rise in cases where families have been completely wiped out or reduced to a single surviving member, often following Israeli strikes on residential homes and densely populated areas.
He reported that three families were removed from the civil registry over the past two months after all members were killed, describing the incidents as part of a recurring pattern affecting entire households.
In one incident early Wednesday, a child, Sami Abu al-Qasim, was the sole survivor of a strike on his family home near the al-Baraka roundabout in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. His father, mother, and six-year-old sister were killed.
Since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on October 7, 2023, approximately 2,000 families have been entirely wiped out, according to ministry figures.
Al-Wahidi described such cases as among the most severe consequences of the Israeli genocide, saying they leave lasting social and humanitarian impacts on affected communities.
“These figures are not merely statistics,” he said. “They represent an ongoing human tragedy affecting thousands of families.”
Health officials said the rising casualty figures reflect the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where civilians continue to bear the brunt of the conflict amid limited medical and emergency resources.
According to the ministry, Israeli forces have continued to violate a ceasefire agreement signed on October 10, 2025, in Sharm el-Sheikh, for the 278th consecutive day.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, at least 1,123 people have been killed by Israeli attacks and 3,616 injured, with around 800 bodies recovered from beneath rubble.
The overall death toll since the Israeli genocidal war began in October 2023 has risen to 73,246, with 173,727 people reported injured, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
