The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern that Israel’s increasingly extensive evacuation directives are jeopardizing efforts to reestablish operational capacity at the European Hospital in southern Khan Younis.
The facility, which has 650 inpatient beds, has been out of service since July 1, the agency said.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), out of the 16 hospitals in the Gaza Strip that remain partially operational, only 12 are accessible to some extent, hindered by insecurity and physical obstructions, including damage to patient and ambulance entrances as well as the surrounding roadways.
The UN agency also added that there were no functioning hospitals in southern Rafah – where Israel has launched a ground offensive – for more than nine consecutive weeks now.
