Days of Palestine – Gaza
Dan Kovalik, a lecturer, and human rights activist, said that the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and the ongoing humanitarian crisis is a catastrophe imposed by Israel with the support of the United States, which finances it and its army with approximately $3 billion annually.
This came during the international forum organized by the Days of Palestine Foundation in partnership with the We Are Not Numbers team and the October 16 team under the title (The Siege of Gaza .. An Ongoing Crime), in the presence of many guests at the local and international levels.
Kovalik said that currently more than 2 million people in the Gaza Strip suffer from severe shortages of fresh water, food, and medicine, and they also suffer from sanitation problems.
He added that Israel is responsible for this suffering, as it is actually hampering the process of maintaining the sanitary water system in Gaza by preventing the entry of necessary equipment.

In fact, Israel has repeatedly attacked the main infrastructure, the water system, the sewage system, the factories, and the concrete needed to rebuild the homes that Israel bombs in the Gaza Strip from time to time.
He stressed that these violations are nothing but war crimes under the Geneva Conventions and other covenants of international law.
He added that it is the responsibility of an occupying power, such as Israel, to provide equipment, necessities, and basic necessities of life, such as water, lunch, and medicines necessary for civilians to survive, and this is what Israel deliberately deprives of the Gaza Strip.
He added that Israel also prevents residents of the Gaza Strip from traveling to and from it, as well as from moving freely inside and outside Palestine from other countries.
The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has made it an uninhabitable geographical spot. As you know, the United Nations said two years ago that Gaza would become unliveable in 2022, and here we are in 2022 and it really is.
He stressed that everything Israel is doing is systematic, according to pre-planned plans. Everyone is talking about the imposition of the apartheid regime by Israel and this is already clear and real, but the inevitable fact is that Israel is already committing a slow genocide against the movement of the residents of the Gaza Strip.
He stated that the Genocide Convention adopted in 1948 in response to the Holocaust was very clear and illegal and that everyone who commits crimes such as depriving individuals or ethnic-national groups of the most basic necessities of life such as food, water, and medicine should be held accountable with the intent of eliminating them
He concluded by saying that the whole world must intervene immediately to stop these crimes, and the United Nations must work to stop the siege of Israel by bringing charges against it to the International Criminal Court, and it must work to lift the suffocating siege on the Gaza Strip.
