DaysofPal — The United Nations has announced that Israeli occupation has not provided any evidence or information on preventing sexual violence crimes, following Israeli occupation’s inclusion for the first time on an international blacklist of parties involved in such violations in conflict zones.
Pramila Patten, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, stated during a press conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York that Israeli occupation had not implemented any effective preventive measures.
She emphasized that her office had not received even the smallest piece of information indicating that the Israeli government had taken steps to reduce or prevent such crimes.
Patten noted that UN officials have been closely monitoring the situation since a letter was sent by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Israeli occupation on August 11 of last year. However, no tangible actions have been observed, and the Israeli occupation has not responded to UN requests regarding possible preventive measures.
Previously, Israeli Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, acknowledged his country’s inclusion on the list due to crimes of rape and sexual violence.
He also announced that Israeli occupation would boycott the office of the UN Secretary-General and suspend communication with it .
The UN’s position comes alongside reports from international and human rights organizations documenting disturbing testimonies of harassment, rape, and sexual violence committed by Israeli forces against Palestinian detainees as well as foreign activists in detention facilities.
Particular attention has been drawn to the isolated Sde Teiman camp and other detention centers.
At the same time, Israeli occupation continues to prevent teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross from visiting detainees and inspecting their conditions, a restriction that has been in place since October 7, 2023.
Israeli occupation is facing widespread accusations from local and international human rights groups of carrying out systematic and serious violations within detention facilities, including severe torture and deliberate medical neglect.
A report by Physicians for Human Rights on Israeli occupation indicated that detention conditions, abuse, torture, and sexual violence contributed to the deaths of at least 98 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons between October 2023 and November 2025.
The situation continues to draw growing international concern, with calls for accountability and greater transparency regarding conditions inside detention facilities.
