DaysofPal– Israeli occupation forces closed one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday and restricted the entry of Palestinian worshippers, citing military training exercises inside the mosque compound, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.
In a statement, the governorate said Israeli forces closed King Faisal Gate, one of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s entrances, for about half an hour while conducting training exercises inside the mosque courtyards.
It added that Israeli forces imposed tighter restrictions at the remaining gates, disrupting the movement of worshippers entering and leaving the mosque during the closure.
The closure comes amid continued Israeli restrictions imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian worshippers, including limitations on access and an increasing policy of banning Jerusalem residents from entering the site.
Israeli occupation authorities have repeatedly tightened measures around Al-Aqsa Mosque, particularly during periods of heightened tensions and religious occasions, including intensified checks on worshippers’ identities, restrictions on access, and preventing some Palestinians from entering.
The mosque has also witnessed repeated incursions by Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli police, according to Palestinian officials.
