Walid Daqqa, a Palestinian prisoner, is facing a life-threatening situation due to his cancer-related health issues.
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs reported that prisoner Daqqa had a lung operation on Wednesday at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, due to a sudden deterioration of his condition.
He is currently being cared for in the intensive care unit of the hospital following the partial removal of his right lung.
The Commission indicated that they are making attempts to secure the freedom of prisoner Daqqa.
Daqqa, a Palestinian writer and advocate, has been imprisoned in Israel since 1986.
Last year, he was given the diagnosis of myelofibrosis, an uncommon type of bone marrow cancer that interferes with the body’s regular manufacturing of blood cells.
