Palestinian Prisoner Club (PPC) stated Saturday, April 8, 2023, that the Israeli occupation currently holds in its prisons 1016 Palestinian administrative detainees, including 6 kids and a woman, which is the highest number since 2003.
In a statement, the club said that the Israeli occupation issued over 800 administrative detention orders against Palestinians during the past 3 months.
The Palestinian administrative detainees are mainly in three Israeli prisons, Ofer, AL-Naqab, and Megdo.
Until the end of March, the number of Palestinian detainees has reached over 1000, 442 in AL-Naqab prison, 340 in Ofer, and 131 in Megdo, and the rest are in other prisons.
The Prisoner Club added that administrative detention is one of the most dangerous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, which has escalated in the past year.
It indicated that the Israeli occupation issued 13,000 administrative detention orders against Palestinians over the past 9 years, the highest of which was in the past years with 2409 orders.
According to the club, 80% of the Palestinian administrative detainees are ex-detainees who spent previously many years inside Israeli prisons.
The Israeli occupation claims that the Palestinian administrative detainees have secret files that cannot be disclosed at all, so the detainees do not know the length of their sentence or the charge.
Administrative detainees are often subject to the renewal of the detention period more than once, and it may sometimes reach a full year, which is also subject to renewal.
According to Palestinian statistics, Israeli occupation currently detains 4765 Palestinians, including 29 females, 150 minors, and 600 patients.
