A recent report by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) revealed that 479 press violations and crimes were committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine during the first half of 2022.
PJS clarified that at least 479 Israeli violations of media and journalists’ rights were committed in Palestine during the first half of 2022, including the killing of the veteran Al Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh.
The report documented 131 violations in Jerusalem, which accounted for 30% of the total violations, followed by the West Bank cities of Hebron and Nablus.
Meanwhile, 80 cases of physical assault by the Israeli occupation forces, and 65 cases of attacks committed by Israeli settlers were documented all over occupied Palestine.
The PJS said in a statement, “Journalistic work in Palestine is under attack. We renew our call on relevant international and human rights organizations to take decisive actions to stop the targeting of journalists by the occupation forces.”
For its part, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) condemned the Israeli violations and argued for taking steps to “end the climate of impunity with which they are carried out.”
