Days of Palestine – Bethlehem
Israeli settlers today cut down 15 olive trees for a Palestinian villager in the village of Artas, southwest of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to a local source.
The director of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission office in Bethlehem, Hassan Barijia, said that settlers cut down 15 old olive trees in the “Asion” area in Bethlehem, which belongs to Jamal Abdullah Ismail from the village of Artas.
To be noted, Israeli settlers have been repeatedly uprooting olive trees in the aforementioned area in recent years, aiming to force farmers out of their lands in order to expand existing settlements and implement new settlement projects.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
