Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
The Israeli occupation authorities on Saturday forced the resident of Jerusalem, Yahya Abu Rayala, to complete the self-demolition of his house in the village of Al-Issawiya in Jerusalem.
Yehya Abu Rayyala, 24, said that he had to knock down part of the house last year following a municipal demolition order, but the occupation forced him today to finish demolishing it entirely, under the pretext of being built without an Israeli-issued permit.
Abu Rayyala added that the Israeli occupation authorities threatened to make him pay 150,000 shekels if its bulldozers came to demolish the house.
Abu Rayyala was living with his wife and two kids in that house.
Israel rarely grants Palestinians permits to build in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, although the estimated 550,000 Jewish Israeli settlers are more easily given building permits and allowed to expand their homes and properties.
