Hamas Movement, today, Wednesday, welcomed the decision of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation into war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against our Palestinian people.

Hazem Qassem, a spokesman for Hamas, said in a statement that this courageous decision is an important step for achieving justice and fairness to our people and punishing the Israeli occupation leadership for its crimes.

He called on the court to resist any potential pressure that could prevent it from completing its mission.

Today, Wednesday, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, confirmed that her office has started an investigation into the situation in Palestine.

Bensouda said in a statement that the investigation will cover crimes within the jurisdiction of the court, which is supposed to have been committed in the related case since June 13, 2014.

Bensouda added that her office will determine the priorities for the investigation in a timely manner, in light of the challenges related to the Coronavirus outbreak, the limited resources available, and the heavy workload required of the court to complete.
