The Supreme Court of the State of New York reviewed last week reviewed a case filed by Fordham Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) against the university's decision to ban their club.
In 2017, the Centre for Constitutional Rights, Palestine Legal, and cooperating counsel Alan Levine filed a lawsuit on behalf of the students after the Dean of Students at Fordham University, Keith Eldredge, rejected their petition for recognition over the club's "political agenda".
Counselor Levin said, "it is very difficult to tell" how long it will take the judges to make a decision, however, he explained that if they lost the case, the students plan to appeal to the New York State Court of Appeals.
SJP co-founder, Katherine Kuemerle, said the university has rejected the club only because it advocates for the Palestinian rights.
