The Ministry of Information – the government media office monitored more than 48 violations against media freedom in the West Bank and Gaza Strip last November, represented in attacks, arrests, extensions of detention, deportation, insults, threats, prevention of coverage, harassment inside the occupation prisons, and the occupation’s policy with social media platforms to fight Palestinian content, with (4) internal Palestinian violations.
Israeli violations:
During November, the Israeli occupation forces arrested, summoned and extended their detention and issued a trial and deportation order last November for more than (15) journalists.
Regarding the attacks and injuries, the report recorded the injury of more than (4) journalists in the occupied West Bank, while they covered the occupation crimes and assaults on them by beating and firing tear-gas, attacking them with dogs and throwing stones by settlers, while covering the activities and peaceful marches.
As for the cases of preventing press coverage of the occupation crimes committed in the Palestinian territories, the report recorded (13) cases of preventing the coverage of occupation crimes, (2) cases of threatening arrest and deportation were recorded, and (6) cases of attacking journalists' equipment, smashing cameras and confiscating press cards.
In addition, (4) cases were recorded in closing media institutions, including the renewal of the ban on the activity of "Palestine TV" in Jerusalem for another 6 months, as well as the colloperation of social media administrations with the occupation to delete and prevent the publication of media and press pages and accounts in order to obliterate the Palestinian narrative.
Palestinian violations:
During November 2020, the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit recorded internal Palestinian violations by the Palestinian security services in the occupied West Bank, which recorded (4) cases, which consisted of monitoring (1) a summons and (3) cases of postponing a trial session.
