Days of Palestine – Tubas
Israeli occupation authorities notified on Sunday for the demolition of a Palestinian-owned residential tent and a shed used as an animal shelter in the village of ‘Atouf to the south of Tubas, in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank, according to a local official.
Abdullah Bisharat, head of Atouf and Ras al- Ahmar Village Council, told the official WAFA news agency that Israel notified local resident Khalil ‘Odeh of their intentions to demolish his 40-aquare-meters residential tent and 150-square meters’ animal shelter within the next 96 hours, citing unpermitted construction as pretext.
From the beginning of the year through May 2020, Israel demolished 30 houses and apartments throughout the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).
As a result, 130 people have lost their homes, including 68 minors. Another 112 non-residential structures (mostly cisterns and storage structures) were demolished.
In East Jerusalem, 31 housing units were demolished, 26 of which were torn down by their owners after they received a demolition order. In total, 112 people, including 53 minors, lost their homes.
