Days Of Palestine – Jerusalem
The Palestinian town of Beit Iksa in Occupied Jerusalem has been isolated and under tight siege for many days by the Israeli occupation forces.
According to Beit Iksa mayor Saada al-Khatib, the Israeli forces has been closing the entrances to the town and preventing the local residents from leaving or entering since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Israeli forces also imposes restrictions on the entry of goods to the town through a military checkpoint at its main entrance.
Although the total area of the town is 7,398 dunums of land, the majority of the local residents are only allowed to live in a 700-dunum area, which is encircled by Israel’s separation wall.
The Israeli occupation army’s civil administration also deprives Beit Iksa of urban expansion or natural growth and imposes complete control over the entire town.
