Prince Charles on Friday arrived to Bethlehem city, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, marking the beginning of a historic visit to the occupied Palestinian territories.

Charles arrived in Manger Square, where he walked into Omar Mosque, located at the corner of the Square.

The Prince of Wales was joined at Manger Square by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Roula Maayah, Palestinian ambassador to the UK Hussam Zomlot, Bethlehem Governor Kamel Hmeid, Bethlehem Mayor Anton Salman besides to a host of clergy and dignitaries.

He also toured the Byzantine-era Church of the Nativity, built over the grotto where Christian tradition says Jesus Christ was incarnated, where Maayah briefed him about the historic significance of the church and recently-uncovered mosaic floors.
