Days Of Palestine – Gaza
The "Gaza challenge" event was held on July 16, 2019 from 11- 5 am at the Centre of Political and Development Studies.
The purpose of the "Gaza challenge" is to engage the Palestinian activists of foreign media in publically rebutting the false information spread by the Israeli occupation leaders as part of their efforts to gain international sympathy byand claim that they are the victims..
In the contest, which is organized by the Days of Palestine Website in partnership with the Centre for Political and Development, teams competed to present the best media activity directed to the Western Community.
Upon launching the contest, the committee spokesperson, Mr. Mohammed Ridwan, thanked the teams participating in the event stressing that the lack of organized Palestinian foreign media activism and the weak efforts in comparison to Israeli media were key factors in the decision to hold the contest..
One of three members of the evaluation committee and director of the Centre of Political and Development, Sherif Amer highlighted how the media and the power of speech influence international community points of view towards the Palestinian people and their cause. .
The Israeli occupation propoganda claim that Israel is the country of peace and they construe and twist facts to delude public opinion. .
Evaluation of Teams
Mr. Amer outlined that the evaluation of the teams' works is based on three aspects: content originality, the impact of media outreach and the power of speech, as well as various tools used not only for reflecting strongly and conveniently the Palestinian issues, but also disproving the Israeli stories..
Mohammad Radwan, the chief of the Days of Palestine website, stated that this special event in the field of media is a unique addition since it is the first of its kind and that it won’t be the last. It is devoted for covering the Great Peaceful March of Return in which Israeli occupation army leaders gave orders to their soldiers to brutalize unarmed Palestinian children, women, men, and elderly. He also added the contest also aims at showing the world the hardships and dilemmas faced by the Palestinians living under a 12 year- old brutally and deliberately imposed siege on Gaza Strip and how they are suffering from the lack of basic needs like healthcare services.
Ridwa announced that a union of foreign activists teams will be announced soon to organize the works and unite the youthful teams to work under one name which is the national duty. Mohammad Ridwan stressed that:” Our national commitment to our home and country is the driving force which lead us to launch such a unique contest which aims at drumming up support for activists of foreign media who have a national responsibility to respond to misleading Israeli media coverage of Palestinian issues and their human rights.” .
Having started to twitter on these hashtags since seven o'clock Monday night " #Great Return March " and " #Gaza Challenge.", hundreds of social media activists have taken part in this special event which took place in the Centre Political and Diplomatic Studies. The seven-team works will be finally evaluated this coming Thursday, July 18 as the evaluation committee mentioned..
The committee also stressed that contesting teams should take into consideration the authenticity of the ideas which refute Israeli allegations, the campaign reachability, and to employ creative methods of presenting the ideas as well as diversity.
There are three prizes: The winning team will receive 300 dollars, the second-place winner 200 dollars, and the third-place winner will 100 dollars.
