Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli occupation soldier killed on Friday morning a Palestinian teen from zero distance at the entrance of occupied Jerusalem.
Like more than 250,000 Palestinian worshiper, the Palestinian teen identified as Mohamed al-Kasaba, 17, was heading to perform Friday prayer in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
While it was very quiet, according to witnesses, an Israeli occupation soldier at Qalandia Checkpoint aimed his automatic gun and opened fire at the Palestinian teen from a zero distance.
Two live bullets hit the teen in the head and the chest and he immediately collapsed. Other worshipers attempted to offer first aid at the scene, but a Palestinian ambulance immediately arrived and evacuated him to Ramallah Medical Centre.
Upon his admission to the hospital, Palestinian doctors said he suffered critical wounds and a little time later he was announced dead.
Al-Kasaba is the third Palestinian from the same family to be killed by the Israeli occupation. His two brothers were killed by the Israeli occupation in 2002.
Israeli occupation claimed that Palestinians threw stones at the Israeli soldiers at the checkpoint and one of them opened fire to stop them. Then, the soldier mistakenly killed the boy.
Thousands of Palestinians participated in a massive funeral for the teen, whose boy was buried in Al-Shuhadaa Cemetery in Qalandia.
In a statement released after the funeral, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Maldenov condemned the shooting by the Israeli forces.
Al-Kasbah was the fifteenth Palestinian to be killed by the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territory since the start of 2015, three of whom were killed in June, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Earlier this year, UNOCHA reported that more Palestinians were killed by the Israeli occupation in 2014 than any other year in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since the Palestinian territories fell under Israeli military occupation in 1967.
