Days of Palestine, Ankara –Turkish government faces difficulties getting permission to transfer wounded Palestinians from Gaza Strip to Turkey.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Beşir Atalay cited the complaint as Turkish planes have previously transferred 25 of wounded to Turkey and they are being now treated in Turkish hospitals.
As Egypt puts many restrictions on Palestinians travelling through the Rafah Crossing, between Gaza and Egypt, Turkey was obliged to transfer the wounded through the Israeli occupation. Thus, the wounded have to pass through the Erez Crossing.
However, the Israeli authorities did not give permission for the crossing of a number of Gazans, including little children with serious conditions.
The last Turkish plans had been to transfer 40 wounded Gazans to Turkey on August 13, but permission was only able to be received for only 18 wounded.
Five of the 18 wounded were children, while one is a pregnant woman, sources said, adding that the Turkish government planned to transfer around 200 Palestinians to Turkey for treatment.
