On Wednesday, the United States issued a rebuke against an Israeli legislative proposal aiming to classify the UN agency for Palestinian refugees as a terrorist organization, denouncing such endeavors as “profoundly unconstructive.”
Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the State Department, articulated that “UNRWA does not meet the criteria of a terrorist organization,” stressing the imperative for the Israeli government and the Knesset to desist from promoting such legislation.
He further asserted, “The Israeli government’s criticisms of UNRWA are markedly counterproductive, offering no advancement toward the objective of delivering humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.”
