DaysofPal– Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has issued an urgent appeal for a safe corridor to allow the entry of aid supplies and protect healthcare workers from ongoing Israeli attacks.
The hospital, along with other medical facilities in the area, is facing a dire situation as Israeli forces continue their offensive.
“We urge the world to provide relief aid to the health care system in northern Gaza, including Kamal Adwan Hospital, Al-Awda Hospital, and the Indonesian Hospital,” Abu Safiya stated, emphasizing the critical need for assistance across multiple facilities.
The hospital has come under intense attack, with Abu Safiya reporting that Israeli military vehicles advanced near the hospital and deployed explosive robots around the facility after destroying internal doors.
“The destruction was horrific, and twenty people were injured in the attack, including five medical staff members,” he said.
The situation has further escalated with the presence of Israeli drones carrying explosive devices in the hospital’s vicinity.
“The bombing continues from all directions, affecting the building, the departments, and the staff. This is a serious and extremely horrifying situation,” Abu Safiya warned.
The director accused Israel of targeting the hospital with intent to kill and forcibly displace people. “The world must understand that our hospital is being targeted with the intent to kill and forcibly displace us,” he said, adding that the bombardment had continued nonstop for two days, destroying homes and buildings surrounding the facility.
The hospital director made an impassioned plea to the international community: “We urge the international community to intervene quickly and stop this fierce assault on us to protect the healthcare system, the workers, and the patients within it.”
The hospital has been repeatedly hit, with bombs dropped on its courtyards and rooftop by Israeli quadcopters. The attacks threaten vital resources such as fuel and oxygen supplies, putting the lives of patients and medical workers at severe risk.
This latest appeal follows a similar call made by Abu Safiya on Sunday, when he accused Israel of directly bombing the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza has had devastating consequences, with over 45,000 people, primarily children and women, killed and nearly all of the 2.3 million residents displaced over the past 14 months.
