DayofPal—Israeli settlers have poisoned a Palestinian water well belonging to farmer Saber Othman in western Ramallah, in an attack that Palestinians say aims to destroy their livelihoods and force them off their ancestral land.
According to reports, settlers from the “Oz Tzur” outpost contaminated Othman’s only water source with a toxic substance. The well provides drinking water for the family and nearby residents while also supporting irrigation and agricultural activities.
The attackers also reportedly destroyed solar panels, removed fencing, stole equipment, and repeatedly targeted the landowner’s property.
The incident is part of a wider pattern of attacks targeting Palestinian water resources in the occupied West Bank.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission has documented the demolition of around 50 Palestinian water wells since the beginning of 2024, along with attacks on livestock and agricultural lands.
Palestinian officials and activists say these attacks are aimed at undermining farming, destroying historic crops such as olive and grape cultivation, and creating conditions that push communities to abandon their lands.
Similar attacks have been reported at water sources in areas such as Ein Samiya, which serves tens of thousands of Palestinians east of Ramallah.
They warn that the targeting of water supplies has become a tool used alongside settlement expansion, land seizures, and intimidation campaigns to weaken Palestinian presence in the occupied West Bank.
