A new report conducted Tuesday, 24 January 2023 by the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs revealed that the Israeli occupation forces are using harsh and painful methods of abuse against Palestinian detainees during their detention.
The commission gave testimonies of Palestinian detainees beaten by Israeli military troops during their detention through the commission’s lawyer Jacqueline Al-Farajeh, confirming that they are subjected during their detention to various types of physical and psychological torture, beatings, and insults.
The report included the testimonies of three Palestinian prisoners who were beaten and abused before being detained by the Israeli occupation forces.
The 30-year-old Palestinian detainee Asif Al-Daamsa from Dheisheh camp testified that Israeli occupation troopers stormed his house at 4:00 am, searched, and wrecked its contents. They severely beat his face before being transferred to the Israeli detention of Etzion.
It is noteworthy that this is the second arrest of the Al-Daamsa as he spent a total of 17 months in the first detention.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Palestinian detainee Othman Arafa from Al-Duheisheh camp attested that Israeli occupation forces kidnapped him at the Israeli military checkpoint of Al-Dhahiriya where he was at the checkpoint to receive his freed detainee brother. “They threw me on the ground and stomped on me with their feet before transferring me to the Israeli investigation center of the Etzion,” Arafa added.
The 24-year-old Palestinian detainee Bilal Masalmeh from the town of Beit Awwa affirmed that Israeli military forces beat him during his arrest from his home at around 7:00 am. The Palestinian detainee was thrown into the Israeli military jeep where the Israeli occupation soldiers beat him with their feet and the butts of their rifles.
It is worth mentioning that 44 Palestinian detainees are held by the Israeli occupation in the Israeli interrogation center of Etzion under tough and harsh living conditions.
